Johan Pas

Johan Pas (°1963) holds a PhD in art history. His field of research is the exhibition and publication histories of the 20th century avant-gardes, neo-avant-gardes and postmodernisms. He has talked, curated and published extensively on these subjects, his most recent books being Artists' Publications: The Belgian Contribution (Koenig Books, 2017) and Guillaume Bijl. Multiples & Editions (Koenig Books, 2021, with David Vermeiren).  Both came with an exhibition.

In 2015 he founded CRAP (Collection for Research on Artists' Publications) that holds a representative library of avant-garde and artists' publications and ephemera released between 1888 and now. Johan Pas teaches at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp and since 2017 is the dean of that institute.
