Dora García

The Beggar's Opera

Dora García particular field of interest deals with the creation of situations or contexts that serve to alter the traditional relationship between artist, artwork, and spectator. Dora García's work is the product of an effort to comprehend how a work of art is made, on the one hand, and how, once made, it relates to the public, on the other. Since 1999 she has created several works on the web (doragarcia.net).
'There are two elements in my work that feed each other constantly: narrative and performance. A sort of narrative in real time that creates and chronicles reality in rapid succession. Equally, the notion of author becomes so scattered that the author becomes a character in a collective narrative.'
