Greet Van Autgaerden
Greet Van Autgaerden deals mainly with the relationship between man and nature on the basis of an ethical issue. In the drawings and paintings in her Camp project, she explores the limits of privacy. She asked various people to draw the camps of their childhood. An interesting question with an even more captivating pictorial challenge, because this gave her a theme that was not based on photography -like most contemporary painters- but on a mixture of other people's memories and the fantasy and creativity of the artist herself based on them. She combines several angles of view in her compositions, looks for relationships between interior and exterior and locates this in particular surroundings. She paints neglected places that arise on the periphery of residential areas, places become hidden places, a bit of nature is appropriated and a camp takes shape.
