Bénédicte Jacobs is mediakunstenaar en onderzoeker in sociale media. Ze is afgestudeerd in Filosofie en Literatuur en heeft een postgraduaat in Informatie- en Communicatiewetenschappen.

Sinds 2010 werkt Bénédicte Jacobs samen met media kunstenaar Laure-Anne Jacobs en vormen zij het kunstenaarsduo LarbitsSisters. Hun samenwerking is gegroeid uit een gedeelde fascinatie voor nieuwe media en combineert wetenschappelijk onderzoek en artistieke praktijk om experimentele projecten te ontwikkelen, waarbij onder meer privacy kwesties, dataverwerking en netwerkanalyses, algoritmes, automatisering en artificiële intelligentie aan bod komen.

Centraal in het werk staan de spanningen tussen het publieke en private, online en offline, tussen het geloof in technologische vooruitgang en het dagelijks leven. Digitale processen en sociale media praktijken zijn daarbij zowel studiemateriaal als creatieve onderzoeksinstrumenten. 

In 2011 richtten zij het digitaal media platform LarBitsLab waarmee internationale samenwerkingen tussen kunst en wetenschap tot maatschappij kritische installaties, performances en events leiden.

Bénédicte Jacobs is a media artist and social media researcher. She graduated in Philosophy and Literature and has a postgraduate degree in Information and Communication Sciences.

Since 2010 Bénédicte Jacobs works together with media artist Laure-Anne Jacobs and forms the artist duo LarbitsSisters. Their practice merges out of a shared fascination for new media and combines scientific research and artistic practice to develop experimental projects dealing with privacy issues, data processing and network analysis, algorithms, automation and artificial intelligence.

Central to the work is the friction between public and private, online and offline; between an unbridled faith in technological progress and everyday life. Digital and social media processes are both study material and creative research tools. 

In 2011 they founded the digital media platform LarBitsLab in which international collaborations between art and science lead to socially critical installations, performances and events.
