Financial consultant and owner of the European Art Tour application intended for an art-loving public, Alain Servais began his collection twenty years ago to now own more than 300 works of contemporary art from various media. As he says himself ‘I never let myself be guided by a simple "crush”. I am the artist for a while, locating his key works, going to museums, visiting galleries and overseeing auctions. This is how I was able to get hold of crucial and affordable works by Cindy Sherman, Gerhard Richter, Barbara Kruger, Loretta Lux and Jenny Holzer' (Interview in the book Belgische collectors Belges published by Ludion in 2010). Alain Servais present his collection in a large loft in Brussels, which also serves as an artists' residence.
