Project spaces
Project spaces often are started by artists who make use of infrastructure for artistic projects.
IMAGINAIR Artspace is an arts space housed in a former furniture factory in Rijmenam. An enormous industrial site forms the backdrop to IMAGINAIR's programme. The Artspace was founded by Katrien Vanderbiest and Geoffrey Lambert - both creative makers and entrepreneurs. They operate in the temporality between past and future, out of a fascination for temporary architecture and for scenography in industrial space. They are inspired by the past of the place and look for their own ways of showing, making and programming. Their language is interdisciplinary.
IMAGINAIR is fascinated by the imagination that is released in the interaction between different (living) worlds. In the tension between old and new, between artist and entrepreneur, between city and village, between various styles and different biotopes, exciting collaborations and surprising presentations arise.
IMAGINAIR Artspace offers creative space for exhibition and stage, from techno to opera, from TV to game or short film, from design to ballet.
IMAGINAIR welcomes young makers, but also established names and big names. Together with the casual passer-by, the villager or the businessman, the intellectual or the cosmopolitan occupies the imaginary stage. On the boundless stage of a factory building, IMAGINAIR Artspace creates contemporary fictions that appeal to the imagination.
