Geert Roelofs
Geert Roelofs studied at the Conservatory of Maastricht and took lessons from Arnoud Gerritse.
His drumcareer started when he was 16 years old, he started out with a very known rockband from Limburg ‘Rick Nolov Band’. Together with Axel Lindelauf (Volumia!) he puted a band together that played a mix between blues and jazz : ‘Stiff’.
Between ’96 and ’99 he did weekly sessions at Marks & Kampstra with the Corneille/Roelofs Trio and guests like : Benjamin Herman, Ben van den Dungen, Toon Roos, Eric Vloeimans and many others…
In ’00 Geert played at the North Sea Jazz Festival with his trio Corneille/Roelofs and won the Best New Talent Award for Glenn Corneille. The years ’01 and ’03 they played again on the Festival.
Geert Roelofs won the Jerry van Rooyen Award 2003, concert with Dado Moroni and Phillip Aerts.
From ’03 till ‘08’ he played with Il Novecento ‘Night of the Proms’, concerts, tv registrations for France 3, radio sessions etc with Julio Iglesias, Charles Aznavour, Patricia Kaas, Xander de Buisonjé, Jan Leyers, Paul Michiels, Sandra Kim, Zucchero, Celine Dion, Gypsy Kings, DJ Bobo, Danny Brillant, etc
In that period he still plays a lot of jazz concerts and records several cd’s with Willem Hellbreker 4 (release tour) with Bert van den Brink and Wiro Mahieu. Recordings Glen Corneille, Mahieu/Vantomme Quartet, Jodymoon, Mike Roelofs, Bugaboo Tang, etc
He teaches drums at the Conservatory of Maastricht.
