Pianist Erik Vermeulen is of the same generation as Peter Hertmans, Bert Joris, Kurt Van Herck and Frank Vaganée. Over the years, he has played with Jacques Pelzer, Steve Houben, Toots Thielemans and Joe Lovano. His main aim has nevertheless been to create his own music. Erik Vermeulen has collaborated particularly intensely with alto saxophonist Ben Sluijs; he was a member of Sluijs’s quartet. As a duo, they released the enthusiastically received albums: 'Stones' (2001) and 'Parity' (2010).
