Nick Ost


Nick Ost started his musical studies at the age of 11. In 1994 he participated in the music contest "Pro Civitate" where he won a first prize.

He studied at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent with Gustaaf Devolder and Bart Van Neyghem and chamber music with François Glorieux, where he got his candidacy with great distinction. For three succesive years, he studied in the class of Frans Violet at the Flemish Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, where he took in 1999 the diploma of "Master in Music" obtaining the highest distinction for euphonium.

In March 1999 he became champion-soloist in the contest for brassplayers of the Flemisch Brassband Federation and in January 2000 he became laureate of the International Tuba/Euphonium Competition in Manchester.
Since June 2001, he is under contract with the Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Guides and several eminent symphonic orchestras regularly appeal to him.
In November 2002 he won a golden medal in the "Concours Européen pour Chant, Trombone et Euphonium" in Luxembourg.

Nick Ost also teaches the family of saxhorns as well as chamber music to the Artistic Humanities of Antwerp.

He is also member of the Brass Band Willebroek, the Cosy Brass Quartet and the Flanders Tuba Quartet, who recorded its first CD Explorations! containing the music of François Glorieux.

As a soloist he plays regularly with several Belgian orchestras and recorded his first solo CD Euphonic Moods with the Revivat Scaldis Chamber Orchestra under the baton of François Glorieux, containing his music.
