Hendrik Vanden Abeele is a pianist, singer, lecturer and researcher. He was lecturer and visiting lecturer at different Flemish and Dutch conservatories in Leuven, Rotterdam and The Hague, and from 2007 until 2009 was a staff member at the Orpheus Instituut in Ghent. From 2000 until 2005, he was full-time bariton with the Vlaams Radio Koor. Since 2007, he is also been lecturer Old Music with Amarant. Vanden Abeele works as postdoctoral researcher and staff member with the Alamire Foundation at the University of Leuven.

Hendrik Vanden Abeele is doctor in the arts at the University of Leiden. He obtained his doctorate with a dissertation on (the search for a contemporary relationship with) the performance practice of late-medieval Gregorian chant.
