DelVitaGroup

These young musicians just beam with self-confidence. They want to do exactly as they please, but they never lose sight of tradition.

DelVitaGroup initially performed hard bop and West Coast jazz from the fifties and sixties and added the John Coltrane and Wayne Shorter heritage later on. This translated into dynamic improv and glorious swing, with a small crack opening onto a free and impressionistic style.

Trombonist Peter Delannoye and drummer Toni Vitacolonna, an inseparable duo, are the beating heart of this band. Peter's frolicking trombone is superbly countered by Steven Delannoye's refined tenor sax.

The Delannoye brothers are definitely on the same track. With Bart Van Caenegem, an excellent pianist in the best bop tradition, Janos Bruneel, a rising star among young bassists and the fiery, jagged drums of Toni Vitacolonna, DelVitaGroup has solid rhythm section.

In 2009 they did a Belgian tour with the Dutch trumpeter Eric Vloeimans as a special guest.
