Belgian singer Liesbeth Devos has established herself as a stylistically highly versatile soprano. Next season she will make her debut as Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Opera Zuid as wel as various concerts with Antwerp Symphoniy Orchestra, Slovenia Philharmonic Orchestra and Brussels Philharmonic. She will record Huberti lieder with Jozef De Beenhouwer. Her acting, dancing and oboe training makes Liesbeth an allround performer with a dear passion for chamber music, opera, recitals with orchestra and self produced projects. She won first prize at the Kurt-Leimer Wettbewerb (Zürich), was a finalist of the Liedwettbewerb des Bayerischen Rundfunks (Bayreuth) and of the Wigmore Hall/Independent Opera Voice Fellowship. Liesbeth performed roles such as Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), Galatea (Acis and Galatea), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Euridice (Orfeo ed Euridice), Aci (Aci, Galatea e Polifemo), Vagaus (Juditha Triumphans), Despina (Cosi fan tutte), Lucia (Rape of Lucretia), Elvira (L’Italiani in Algeri), Marie (Guillaume Tell), 1st Niece (Peter Grimes) and Mrs Wordsworth (Albert Herring). Her recent recording of Liesbesfrühling (songs and duets by Clara and Robert Schumann) for Phaedra CD was acclaimed worldwide. Liesbeth Devos has made regular appearances in Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, La Monnaie, Opéra de Liège, La Fenice, San Francisco Opera, Festival d’Aix en Provence, BAM NY, Opéra de Rouen and Chateau Versailles. In concert, Liesbeth Devos has sung solo parts with many symphonic orchestras such as Gulbenkian Orchestra, the Amsterdam Sinfonietta , Les Arts Florissants, the Antwerp Symphonic Orchestra, the Brussels Philharmonic, the Orchestre de Dijon Bourgogne, the Young Symphonic Orchestra Belgium, the Boston Händel & Haydn Society, the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen and the Slovenian Philharmonic. She has worked with eminent conductors such as William Christie, Suzuki Masaaki, Karel Deseure, Richard Egarr, Ivo Venkov, Gergely Madaras, Michaël Schönwandt, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Bo Holten, Bruno Bartoletti, Bart Van Reyn, Dirk Vermeulen and Leif Segerstam. Her interpretation of Pergolesi’s Salve Regina in the USA has been acclaimed by the American reviewers. Her passion for the lied and poetry makes her highly demanded for chamber music. She sang Schönbergs 2nd String Quartet with the Taurus Quartet and various different programs with amongst others Het Collectief, Malibran Quartet and the German Asasello quartet. On DVD she appears in Death in Venice (La Fenice –Dynamic), L'inimico delle Donne (Opéra de Wallonie - Dymnamic) and Guillaume Tell (Opéra de Wallonie - Dynamic). Her CD recordings include De Boeck Songs (Phaedra cd), Bram Van Camp’s The Feasts of Fear and Agony (Fuga Libera), Liebesfrühling (Phaedra cd) and The Children of the Sea (Phaedra cd). Liesbeth Devos has been coached by Patricia McCaffrey, Stephanie Friede, Lieve Suys, Lucienne Van Deyck, Susanna Eken, Guy Joosten and José Van Dam
