Alain De Rijckere began his musical studies at the Academy of Dinant. After receiving the Medal of government, he participated in the national contest of Credit Communal, where he won first prize. The same year (1975), he entered the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. He got there a superior degrees diploma in bassoon and chamber music. In 1980, he obtained the post of principal bassoon in the Symphony Orchestra of the RTBF. Currently, Alain De Rijckere is professor of chamber music at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and specializes in the interpretation of early music on original instruments. He works regularly with famous ensembles as La Petite Bande (Sigiswald Kuijken), Il Fondamento Octophoros (Dombrecht), Collegium Vocale (Philippe Herreweghe), Les Musiciens du Louvre (Marc Minkowski).
