Theater Tol

Theater Tol, founded in 1998, is an International Music Theatre company based in Antwerp (Belgium). The company creates performances with almost no spoken words, using images, acting and music instead. Their performances often weave themselves into the locations. Each performance is inspired by the physical aspects as well as the historical and social context of the location. The group consists of a permanent crew which is brought together per production by artistic director Lot Seuntjens: costume designer and stylists, playwrights, sound- and lighttechnicians, designers, composers, video-editors, production leaders, musicians, dancers, actors and actresses. The company does not play in conventional theatre venues but prefers ‘unusual’ locations: the site of an old factory, a park, a market square, a beach or a riverbank. Summer or winter, the performances are always outdoors. Sometimes they are created specifically for a location or in cooperation with other artists and theatre companies. The company has already performed in Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, England, Norway, Denmark, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Andorra, Greece, Romania, Latvia, Croatia, Poland, Switzerland, Monaco, Russia, Israel, Singapore, India, Ibiza, Costa Rica, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, Chili, Taiwan, Thailand, South Korea, Australia and Canada.
