Hans Theys


Hans Theys is a twentieth-century philosopher, art critic and curator. He has created some 50 exhibitions, written and designed dozens of books on the work of contemporary artists and published hundreds of essays, interviews and reviews in books, catalogues and magazines. All these publications are based on collaborations or conversations with the artists in question. In 2019, the books 'De Verdubbeling / The Doubling' (96 p. Ned. and Eng., Academy of Antwerp), 'Hors Commerce' (112 p. Ned. and Fr., Galerie Ronny Van de Velde), 'Vrijheid Vandaag' (112 p. Ned., Tornado Editions) and the three-volume publication 'Knockando' (Ned. 464 p.), 'Ce que c'est' (Fr. 464 p.) and 'Form Vision' (Eng. 464 p., consisting of interviews with forty leading artists, were published. Theys teaches at the Royal Academies of Antwerp and Ghent and is senior lecturer at the AARS (Antwerp Artist Run School).
