Hans Martens

Hans Martens was from 2006 till 2010 the Artistic Director of the HISK (Hoger Instituut voor Schone Kunsten / Higher Institute for Fine Arts) in Ghent. Since 2011 he is director of the Academy of Fine Arts in Mechelen. He is also active as independent curator. He is a member of the board at the following organizations: the Friends Association of SMAK - Museum of Contemporary Art in Ghent, De Centrale, Inter Cultural Center, Gent, and vzw Contour Mechelen. He is also a member of the Art and Culture Commission of the Flemish Parliament, the Commission for Visual Arts within the Kunstendecreet, the Commission FilmLab of VAF (Flemish Audio visual Fund), the Artistic Advice Commission for Art in the City of Ghent, Member of the Advice Commission Art in Public Space, Mechelen.
