Eva Wittocx


Eva Wittocx is a Belgian art historian, curator and author. Wittocx studied Art Science at the Catholic University of Leuven and has been head of the contemporary art department and senior curator of the M-Museum Leuven since June 2009. She has held exhibitions with Patrick Van Caeckenbergh, Ugo Rondinone, Mika Rottenberg, Markus Schinwald and Peter Buggenhout, among others. 

From 2006 to 2009 she was a curator at the multidisciplinary art centre STUK, where she programmed exhibitions and launched a new annual performance festival Playground. Since 2010, this festival has been a collaboration between STUK and Museum M. 

Between 1997 and 2006, she worked as a curator at S.M.A.K. in Ghent, where she worked closely with director and curator Jan Hoet. She organised exhibitions with, among others, Jannis Kounellis, Joelle Tuerlinckx, Bernard Frize, Dora Garcia and Willem Oorebeek. In 2017, Eva Wittocx represented Belgium at the Venice Biennale, curating with artist Dirk Braeckman. 

She regularly writes about contemporary art and artists for art catalogues and magazines. For a while, she was also Belgian correspondent for Flash Art International. She is a regular guest lecturer and sits on a number of committees.
