Roger D'Hondt


Roger D'Hondt is a freelance curator and publicist in newspapers, art magazines, books and digital networks. He is also the founder of the avant-garde art centre New Reform (Aalst 1970-1978) and the laureate silver medal Robert Schuman (1978) - an prize distributed by the 'Association of the Friends of Robert Schuman' (Metz, France). From 1973  to 1975 he worked at the art centre of the University of Antwerp, and curated over 200 projects. He is also the archivist of the New Reform Archives. His work as a curator comprized (among others): 'Theory/information/practice' (exhibition, performances and video art) in the urban academy in Ghent (1976), 'Performance Art' in the Stadsarchiv Kassel (Germany) during Documenta 6 (1977), 'Performance in Flanders 1969 – 1979' (commissioned by New Workshop Brussels), 'From Provo to now, art in a socio-political context’ (Urban Museum city of Aalst, 2008), 'Facades et Interieurs' (an in situ project in Paraza, France, 2010), 'Tussenwereld' (a project of contemporary art in the crematoria of Sint-Niklaas and Lochristi, Belgium, 2014) and 'Hugo Roelandt – Post(ume) Getuigenis', Netwerk Aalst (2016).
