Louise Osieka

Missed Chances, 2013

Louise Osieka (Master Art History) is the director of C-mine. C-mine is a hybrid, creative site founded on the revitalised Winterslag coal mine in the city of Genk (BE). The mine’s industrial heritage has been carefully renovated, and it fascinatingly interacts with the site’s modern buildings and architectural elements. It’s a place where students, artists, entrepreneurs and visitors cross paths every day, offering them a high-quality programme on the intersection of the visual, performing arts, design, architecture and film. From 2015 - 2020 Osieka was the artistic and general director of CIAP, a platform for contemporary visual arts where she organised exhibitions and projects by Aline Bouvy, Leen Voet, Martin Belou, Kasper Bosmans, Beny Wagner and Antonio Vega Macotela. Osieka is a member of the acquisition board for the Flemish Parliament and part of the selection committee for the collection of the Flemish Government; member of the artistic board of Contour (biennial of moving image), member of the advisory board of Superdeals (project room and artist residency in Brussels) and member of the advisory board of the art critical magazine De Witte Raaf. Osieka conducts research into the pedagogic aspects of Jef Geys' oeuvre .
