Art liaison and art historian Benedicte Goesaert is an independent curator who also guides and advises artist estates, such as the Philippe Van Snick Estate. Earlier in her career, she has worked for the Foundation Philippe Vandenberg. Since 2020, she has initiated her own research into artist estates in Belgium, paying particular attention to the future dynamics of a body of work in relation to the surrounding art world and market.
Together with Chantal Pattyn and Peter Verhelst, she curated the 40th edition of Art Festival Watou (2021), with artpieces by Arocha & Schraenen, Michael Dean, Ariane Loze, Neo Matloga, N. Dash, Zhang Yunyao, Vincent Meessen, Tracey Emin, Lieven De Boeck, Luca Vanello, Lucy Skaer, Sarah & Charles, Catharina Van Eetvelde, Esther Kläs and many more. In 2019, she curated the exhibition ‘Ofte vojagantoj’ in Wilford X in Temse (B), with pieces by Neo Matloga, José Montealegre and Shirley Villavicencio Pizango. Her eight years of experience as a director of Zeno X Gallery in Antwerp (2011-2019) have provided her with a broad experience of close collaborations with collectors, museums and contemporary artists, such as Michaël Borremans, Dirk Braeckman, Mark Manders, Luc Tuymans, Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven, Marlene Dumas, Kim Jones and Jack Whitten.
Benedicte's international perspective on the art world and great concern for its substantive discourse, manages to connect both people and art: she organises online art talks, writes, and supports collectors in their collection management and their search for art to live with.
Benedicte grew up in Waregem and currently resides in Ghent, where she studied Art History, followed by a postgraduate program in Curatorial Studies at KASK.
