Magali Elali

Magali Elali is curator and artistic director of The Constant Now, an arts organisation and centre of expertise that aims to make the visual arts sector in Belgium more diverse and multi-voiced. Through exhibitions, collaborations and the POC POC coaching programme - which connects young talent of colour with art professionals - she increases the network, knowledge and skills of young artists. The aim is to empower them and move them into the mainstream art circuit, where artists of colour are often lacking. The first edition of POC POC was awarded A Fair New Idea?! prize by Kunstenpunt. She is also art programmer at the S.M.A.K. in Ghent.

Magali obtained an MA in Art Science from the University of Ghent. She did internships at W139 and De Brakke Grond in Amsterdam, was assistant curator at Mu.ZEE in Ostend, worked as a cultural policy officer for the city of Antwerp and as international relations coordinator at the University of Antwerp. She was also a freelance journalist for De Morgen and Weekend Knack, ran the online magazine Coffeeklatch, and published two books in collaboration with photographer Bart Kiggen and publisher Luster.
