Annelies Ysebaert

Fascinated by contemporary art and architecture, gallery owner and curator Annelies Ysebaert draws inspiration from artists' work on a daily basis. For her, curation means conveying a coherent story, where art is in harmony with space. For this, she draws on her Masters in Architecture: an analysis of the public space and its context is essential to gauge possibilities.

When looking for perfect matches for a project, Annelies studies existing cultural offerings, for instance in museums and sculpture parks, on the one hand. On the other hand, she also thinks of fresh challenges: can artists develop something new in function of the theme? In 2022, Annelies was at the cradle of Art Flow Zwolle, an art route through the Dutch municipality of Zwolle, for which she was allowed to select the artists.

Her art gallery Gallery Ysebaert also helps her grow as a curator: the bi-monthly exhibitions, various collaborations and feedback from the artists are an important foundation. Connecting people with art is Annelies' calling.
