Seppe De Roo

Seppe De Roo is a visual artist based in Brussels, Belgium. He is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp in painting. His work crystallises a new aesthetic language with a strong art historical framework, combining historical painting techniques with digital techniques such as RayTracing and sculptural work with 3D printing. Within his artistic practice, he holistically integrates pedagogical and curatorial approaches to transfer creative methods and create visibility for emerging artists. Deeply rooted in his practice is a need to analyse and recreate the stories we use to construct our reality and society. These stories are an excellent starting point to dissect contemporary humanity from the point of view of different artistic practices. Based on a thorough and in-depth analysis of these artistic practices through long-term personal contact with these artists in question, he curates exhibitions that bring together artist, audience and our stories through the composition of the artworks.

In September 2022, he brought together 14 international artists, from London to Australia, at LaVallée, Brussels for the group exhibition 'Sit Back, Relax & Enjoy the Apocalypse'. With a 1200m2 space, more than 9 accompanying events such as performance platforms and concerts and 2348 visitors in 14 days, his first curated exhibition was a great success.
