Dirk Plaetevoet


Dirk Plaetevoet is a cultural philosopher and curator specialising in the encounter between contemporary art, heritage and philosophy. He studied philosophy, history and law at KU-Leuven. There he obtained an Mphil degree in cultural philosophy. As a freelance exhibition maker, he has already worked with several artists and projects on contemporary visual arts. He started his concept of id-est in 1997 on behalf of the cultural centre in Ichtegem and presented among others: Willem Vermandere, Peter Jacquemyn, Dirk Lamote, Anneleen Pruvoost, Peter Simoen , Paul Perneel and many others. He also collaborated on the arts biennial Beeld-ig in 2013. And also organised projects involving a dialogue between art and historical heritage.
