Katya Ev
Katya Ev develops practices between visual arts and performance, where theory and practice are inseparable. She/they creates a conceptual –abstract performative cartography of a decidedly political dimension that activates a questioning of society, the economy and the body.
Ev is born in Moscow (USSR). After having studied arts and lived in Paris for more then 15 years, she is currently based in Brussels. In 2005, after a car accident she radically changed her original trajectory in political science and business management.
In their artistic practice, Ev brings into play rituals and gestures that can be perceived as ordinary or banal. Placed in the context of a performance, they activate a critical questioning of society and politics, aiming at a symbolic transformation of the status quo. Ev’s practices are based on research, collective reflection and multiple collaboration. Her performances further result in text & video pieces, sculptures, installations etc.
