Wouter Van Loo

A MANIFESTO

One of the main ways art manifests itself is by questioning “itself” and society.
Wouter Van Loo especially wants to emphasize the critical potential of art and send questions into the world to see what kind of social dialogue it can bring about.
In terms of content, his work mainly focuses on the legitimization of art and postmodern social criticism, which are concretized through contemporary visual strategies in collages, objects, drawings, and sculptural installations. His oeuvre can best be described as linguistic, conceptual, and activist, but is well made and aesthetic.
After all, the artist wants to create a broader understanding of art in an understandable way. By creating an understanding of artistic freedom, thinking, and acting differently, the artist hopes to contribute to a society in which beauty, certainty and truth are central concepts in the way we communicate with each other to do the right thing together.
