Marleen Daniëls is a highly experienced travel and documentary photographer. She has worked as a freelance photographer since 1984,
contributing to various media outlets both domestically and internationally. She identifies herself as a documentary photographer who happened to
venture into the world of fashion. Working with the prestigious French agency Gamma, Marleen Daniels traveled from conflict zones in Lebanon, Romania, and Bosnia to the Fashion Weeks in Paris and Milan. Her work was exhibited and served as a focal point in the Frontstage/Backstage solo- exhibition at the Fashion Museum in Hasselt in 2018. In May 2021, she curated a solo exhibition at C-Mine Genk showcasing backstage photography from International Fashion Weeks. This exhibition was made possible with subsidies from the Flemish Government and the arts decree, providing support for artists during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her collaborations with Belgian and international fashion designers culminated in the publication of her book Sarajevo to Paris, an 813-page photo book published by Stockmans Art Books. Additionally, the boo Spiegels van de Stad (Mirrors of the City), co-authored with journalist Annelies de Waele, was published in 2022 by Snoeck, featuring photography of historic windows in Ghent.
