Paradise Kortrijk

Paradise Kortrijk 2021, the successor to Play Kortrijk 2018, is an interactive art trail in the public space. International contemporary artists investigate what paradise means and how we can build a better world together.

The successful PLAY Kortrijk arts festival of 2018 has grown into a triennial for contemporary art. In 2021, the Triennial entitled Paradise will take place from 26 June to 24 October 2021.This international arts project draws inspiration from our zeitgeist and our never-ending dreams of paradise. We all dream of a paradise life without worries, but how do we achieve this? What does paradise mean to each one of us? How do we build a better world together?

Contemporary artists dissect these questions from a social, ecological, architectural or technological point of view, resulting in an exhibition that balances on the relation between utopia and reality. Paradise is both an interactive art trail in the public space and an inspiring exhibition at unique locations in Kortrijk. The visitor is invited to think actively about the impact of his actions and how they can contribute to a more tolerant and respectful community.Patrick Ronse (Be-Part, Platform for contemporary art) and Hilde Teerlinck (Han Nefkens Foundation) are the curators of this project.
