Liebaert Projects

Liebaert Projects is a foundation for Contemporary Visual Art in Kortrijk and at the same time an “Open Monuments Association”. This somewhat bizarre combination grew out of the fact that the non-profit organization bought an old industrial building in disrepair on the Liebaertlaan with the intention of transforming it into an "art hall". The property, owned by CV Muybrug, Kortrijk, was an ideal place to show current visual art, to have projects realized in situ by "emerging" artists. The degree of decay of the building forced “Liebaert Projects” to classify it as a monument in order to be able to pay for the basic renovation work, through subsidies, and to prepare it for the eventual redevelopment of the building, an art hall.
