The Centrum Bruno Renson vzw has - under the name ARTISIT - been active for more than a decade as a working studio for artists suffering from psychological vulnerability. Eventhough these artists are struggling with a psychiatric past, ARTISIT's workhop manages to motivate them to reach their ful potential and artistic quality. The centre aims to draw the contemporary artworld's attention to the creativity of these artists, but avoids associations with amateur art, folk art or outsider art. The artistic quality of their work as well as their commitment as artists merits professional critical attention. As a result of their psychosocial limitations, they need a supporting framework, which ARTISIT provides through the workshop and exhibition projects, by actively following up on their work, stimulating and defending it, creating networks and promoting their art.
