Kunstenhuis

In the eighteenth century, the 100 market street in Harelbeke was built as a spacious residential home. After WWII, the site housed the local Pipe and Tobacco Museum for decades, zooming in on the region's rich craft history. This collection moved between 2010 and 2012 to the museum in Wervik. Since April 2014, the market street has been an interactive place for art and culture. Under the banner of the City of Harelbeke, around twenty exhibitions were organized between 2014 and 2019, each with a focus on contemporary Belgian art.

With our own vision and network, we are building a solid, autonomous framework where art is central. The ambition of the Kunstenhuis is to realize 2 concept exhibitions every year, supplemented with a modest program of lectures, guided visits and nocturnes.
