Villa De Olmen

Built in 1926, Villa De Olmen villa by the Ghent architect Carlos Malfait (and reminiscent of the work of renowned architect Valentin Vaerwyck), is a fine example of country house architecture during the Belgian interbellum. It is also the residential house of brewer Callebaut and as such, it is one of the final relevant architectures bearing witness to the former (and now disappeared) beerbrewing industry in Wieze. The interior is a typical illustration of conservative and fashionable style elements, with a functional and progressive perspective on comfortable living. The villa's garden, refering to a country style yard, creates a historical and conceptual unity between the house, the entrance hall and the road chapel.
