ATTIK

ATTIK is new off-space based in Ghent, Belgium, initiated by artists Ben Benaouisse and Sam Eggermont. Through a high-quality content-based meeting and exhibition programme it aims to deliver a vital contribution to the contemporary artistic debate in Flanders and beyond. ATTIK primarily offers a discursive platform for dialogue, presentation and distribution of ideas and knowledge. Artists, curators, cultural organizations and other cultural players are invited to (re-)define their position within art history, the art scene, and diverse societies. ATTIK is particularly interested in a critical exploration of contemporary art and its range of political and ideological dimensions in a broad sense of meaning. The off-space is located in the attic of the Crombrugghe Society in the Huidevetterskaai Ghent. The historical layering of the building combined with the rough attic structure, provides an open framework for intimate meetings, informal conversations, reading moments and experimental presentations. Dialogue Artists and various cultural players are weekly invited on Thursday night to lecture, discuss and/or show work with the aim to feed the contemporary artistic debate as well as to question or criticize it from within. The guest programme is composed according to the topics introduced by ATTIKā€™s founders, Ben Benaouisse and Sam Eggermont.
