RESET

Reset is a new centre for contemporary art. The core of this centre is literally and figuratively situated in the home of Gert Robijns’ grandparents, which he rebuilt as a sculpture during 2014-2015. Reset is a 1:1 remake of the erstwhile house that was wholly rebuilt 10 cm away from the original house. In this house-sculpture, the most basic living spaces have been preserved, so that artists can be accommodated there and develop or present their work. The house-sculpture however is intended to be more than just an artist’s residence. Reset also aims to be the core or the starting point for the development of a high quality work of contemporary art in the region. The centre is situated in the hamlet of Gotem, a borough of Borgloon. It is not the first time that Robijns has gone back to his native village to make an artistic intervention there. In 2011, he had already realised a large public sculpture there: the village.
