LUC VANDEN BOSCH

After studying at home Luc Vanden Bosch decided to make music his profession. From pop, rock, heavy metal, dance and classical music, and after "Beatlemania", he arrived in the jazz world.

He received various laureate prizes (Jazz Hoeilaart, Avro-Jazz contest) and this gave him the chance to play as a freelance percussionist in the BRT Jazz Orchestra under the leadership of Etienne Verschueren. Later he found that classic percussion playing was not his style and he left the Royal Music Conservatory in Brussels to follow his own course with various ensembles including Mika Quartet, Guy Raiff Trio, Phil Abraham Quartet, and Vaya Con Dios.

With the New Look Trio (Roger Van Ha, bass and Johan Clement, piano) he supported jazz giants such as Al Grey, Deborah Brown, Clark Terry, Art Farmer, Johnny Griffin, Toots Thielemans, Scott Hamilton, Rachel Gould, Ali Ryerson and Benny Bailey.

Besides his freelance work Luc is an integral part of different ensembles (and CD recordings) such as with Charles Loos and Phil Abraham in the Jazz Me Do Beatles project and From jazz to baroque, ou l'inverse!. In addition Luc plays with Ménage Artois, Arne Van Coillie Trio, Ilse Duyck Group, Olla Vogala, Cool Cargo, MJQ Project, Penta Quintet, Ambrozijn...

He happily shares his musical knowledge with his students, and loves good open music with lots of colour, silences and space...
