Marianne Verstegen

Marianne Verstegen studied with Ton Koopman at the Koninklijk Conservatorium van Maastricht, where she received a master degree Uitvoerend Musicus.
With Jos Van Immerseel at the Koninklijk Vlaams Muziekconservatorium in Antwerp she received her Belgian degree. She also took master classes with Gustav Leonhardt, Kenneth Gilbert Davitt Moronay.

An important point in her performances is the search for the most accurate reproduction of the Renaissance and baroque repertoire as possible. For this purpose she possesses various very beautiful replicas of harpsichords from the seventeenth and eighteenth century.

One of her other objectives is to make contemporary music for harpsichord well known to the general public. Different composers have already dedicated various works to her.
'' Presently Marianne Verstegen teaches harpsichord at the Lemmensinstituut, the Hogeschool voor Muziek in Leuven.
She frequently cooperates with Bart Coen, Katelijne and An Van Laethem. At the moment they present a Frescobaldi programme.
She is always eager to work with other stage artists. The last production of the recently diseased Senne Rouffaer was very moving to her. In this production one of our greatest actors, together with his son Peter, recited Shakespearean sonnets. Patrick Denecker and Marianne Verstegen accompanied them with English music from the same period.
