Nathan Daems Quintet

Nathan Daems Quintet

Nathan Daems Quintet started in Ghent in september 2007. When the five jazz musicians sporadically played together, they felt too much inspiration and electricity: the just had to start up a new band.

After a period of rehearsing they gradually started to know and understand each other's voices inside the fascintating jazz language. In the winter of 2007 and spring 2008 they did several gigs in pubs, mainly in Ghent. They even played once on the festival "Jazz Middelburg", just before the great tenorist Archie Shepp's group.

Summer 2008 was quiet, since every band member was busy playing in other groups. Now the group is looking for some gigs for fall and winter 2009 and spring 2010. Nathan Daems wrote a bunch of new songs to refreashen the spirit, mainly modal stuff with influences from every corner you can imagine.

  • Nathan Daems: Tenor saxophon & soprano saxophone
  • Fulco Ottervanger: Piano and keys
  • Bart Vervaeck: Guitar
  • Simon Segers: Drums
  • Sebastiaan "Bas" Gommeren: Double Bass
