Bon Matin!

Bon Matin!

Bon Matin is a French - Belgian band bringing together : button accordion player Marinette Bonnert (Wallonia), harpist and singer Juliette Collache (Flanders/Poitou), doedelzak and fiddle player Birgit Bornauw (Flanders), harpist and singer Hoëla Barbedette (Brittany). Bon matin performs for concerts and ball-dances. Its members also run dance workshops or instrument courses on the repertoires from the four regions… according to organiser’s request.

Bon Matin is most of all a rich and original sound produced by the energy of four young musicians well – respected in their own areas :

After playing Walloon music for several years in the duo « Matoufèt », button accordion player Marinette Bonnert is today travelling across Europe to give workshops and concerts with « 21 Buttons », her duo with Catalan Pere Romani. She’s also a great dance instructor on dances from all over Europe.

Originated from Dunkerque (French Flanders) Juliette Collache settled 15 years ago with her Celtic harp in Poitou (West of France), where she’s been teaching and sharing her skill in dance music with many students, organising events and performing in ball dances. She’s also proved to be a fine traditional singer and is well-respected as a singing leader for round dances from Vendée.

Birgit Bornauw is one of Flander’s best doedelzak players of the new generation. She’s one of the founders of the band « Griff », based on a bagpipes trio. Besides several concert and ball-dance groups, she teaches Flemish bagpipes (doedelzak), music, and is involved in the « Flanders Ethno » project, the Belgian international workshop for young folk musicians from all over the world.

Developing her own skill in harp techniques for dance music has been one of Hoëla Barbedette’s first challenges. Today, she performs in various groups, from the big band « Norkst » from (first Kreizh Breizh Akademi), to the duo Barbedette-Quenderff, harp and double bass. She’s a graduate in traditional Breton music and teaches in several music schools in Brittany.
