Bart Bouckaert


Bart Bouckaert studied at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels, where he won First Prizes for harmony, counterpoint, fugue and history of music. He obtained the "Hoger Diploma" for chamber music and percussion and an MA in orchestral direction. In 1989 he was awarded the second prize with the OXO percussion trio at the Orpheus Contest in Antwerp. In October 2000 Bart Bouckaert ended second in the "Settimo Concorso per Giovani Direttori d'Orchestra", a contest for young opera conductors in Spoletto, Italy. Bart Bouckaert conducted various orchestras and ensembles at home and abroad e.g. Prometheus-ensemble, Odyssea-ensemble, Het Collectief, Spoleto Opera Orchestra (Italy), Chamber Orchestra National Opera de Munt, National Orchestra Vilnius (Litouwen), het Flemish Radio Choir, Belgian National Orchestra, ensembles contemporary music Royal Conservatory Brussels in works of Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Debussy, Kurtag, Eötvös, Harvey, Boulez, Bartok, Defoort, Boesmans, Geysen and many others. Bart Bouckaert teaches contemporary music at the Royal Conservatory Brussels.
