Koi Collective

Koi Collective

Koi Collective is a duo consisting of pianist Emmy Wils and saxophonist Maarten Vergauwen. It was founded in 2020 as an ensemble with a contemporary vision.

The duo's main focus is performing a contemporary repertoire, especially Belgian compositions. In addition to this, Koi Collective chooses a variety of compositions written by foreign composers. Just like the fish of the same name, Koi Collective aims to swim against the current, making the contemporary style its own through strength and perseverance.

Right from the beginning, Koi Collective has been actively giving concerts, and just four months after they were founded, they received a residency at the Concertgebouw in Bruges. They have also performed at Beeldenstorm Anderlecht, Miry Ghent, Queens Brussels, JAT Hasselt, Bijloke Wonderland and Transit festival, and in 2023 they were one of the winners of the Supernova, the competition for chamber music ensembles of Flemish radio station Klara.
