Kris De Baerdemacker
Kris De Baerdemacker (Belgium) studied composition at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent with prof. dr. Godfried-Willem Raes. His compositions explore diverse fields ranging from notated music through electro-acoustic and experimental music. His instrumental works have been performed by Belgian ensembles including het Collectief, Spectra Ensemble, Kalès Guitar Quartet, Nadar Ensemble, TroisElles, orchestras such as the Ghent University Symphony Orchestra and the National Orchestra of Belgium and soloists Kurt Bertels, Cezariusz Gadzina, etc. His player piano studies, written for the M&M robot orchestra of the Logos Foundation, have been presented on festivals all over Europe. In 2006, he was a finalist of the Tactus Young Composers' Forum with his first orchestral work Blending. He was awarded the Prijs Nieuwe Muziek Oost-Vlaanderen for his composition Festa for altosaxphone in 2017 which has been performed in Belgium, the Netherlands and the United States of America. A selection of his works is available on CD.
