LOD muziektheater is a Ghent production company for opera and musical theatre, a creative base for performing artists. 

LOD undertakes to map out long-term trajectories; with directors Josse De Pauw, Inne Goris, Steve Salembier, Gorges Ocloo, Lies Pauwels and Laila Soliman as well as composers Kris Defoort, Daan Janssens, Thomas Smetryns, Frederik Neyrinck, Bushra El-Turk, Jamie Man and Nabou Claerhout. In addition, LOD remains open to those who - always surprisingly, but never by chance - cross our artistic path. Our production company is intended to ben an overarching platform for these artists, and is meant to offer the resources to develop their ideas. 

LOD focuses resolutely on what is to come, among other things through our commitment to support young talent. We are working on the future of musical theatre through the European Network of Opera Academies (enoa), which provides quality workshops for young performing artists and opportunities for lasting exchanges between international opera houses. At the end of the summer, we open up our rehearsal spaces to up-and-coming new talent during the Bijloke Summer Academy – Music Theatre, in collaboration with our neighbours on the Bijlokesite: KASK & Royal Conservatory School of Arts, International Opera Academy, Muziekcentrum De Bijloke and SPECTRA) and with the cooperation 10x10 with VIERNULVIER Arts Centre, we support many young performing artists with a heart for music theatre every year. 

Although collaboration has been one of the foundations of our work since the beginning, it all started in Ghent - with 'Lunch op Donderdag' ('Lunch on Thursday'). We want to focus more on presenting our own productions in our own LOD Studio and during Bijloke Wonderland, a biennial arts festival at the Bijlokesite.
