Euterpe Baroque Consort

Euterpe Baroque Consort

Euterpe is the merry muse of music and of lyrical poetry. The Euterpe Baroque Consort was founded in 2004 on the occasion of a concert series with the Stabat Mater of Domenico Scarlatti.

The ensemble consists of a vocal and an instrumental group, performing both together and separately, depending on the programme. The emphasis is always on the quest for an interpretation that is concurrently as historically informed and as acceptable as possible, without however claiming the truth.  Organist-harpsichordist Bart Rodyns serves as musical director.

Since 2007 the ensemble has been working together with he British conductor Andrew Arthur. The Euterpe Baroque Consort has lately found the way to prestigious venues and festivals: the opening of the Flanders Festival-Mechelen with Claudio Monteverdi’s Vespro della Beata Vergine, concerts in the framework of Radio Klara with von Biber’s Missa Bruxellensis in 23 parts.
