Forum+

FORUM+ explores the latest trends in research in the arts, which is gaining importance in higher arts education in Flanders and the Netherlands. Our journal aims to stimulate the dialogue between research in the arts and the social context in which it is established: this way, we can offer a platform for creative approaches and critical reflections on our world.

The arts are deliberately defined in a non-exhaustive sense: music, drama, dance, and (audio-)visual and applied arts are some of the represented fields. The interdisciplinary profile of FORUM+ can accomodate discipline-related issues, but also allows for the exposure of cross-links and differences. Our journal's name reflects this intention: we want to be a forum for the exchange of ideas, with a plus.

FORUM+ is primarily aimed at researchers, teachers, and students within all artistic disciplines, but it also brings current developments of research in the arts closer to the broader art-loving public. To achieve this, FORUM+ aims to deliver accessibility in form and content, positioning itself in between an academic and a cultural journal.

FORUM+ publishes contributions in Dutch and English that stem from original research and are peer-reviewed by the editorial staff and a member of the editorial advisory board with specific expertise in this field.

Besides traditional scientific articles, the editorial board welcomes a variety of other contributions, such as visual and reflective essays, podcasts, interviews and dialogues (among others). Additionally, our open dossiers cluster articles and contributions on certain themes that circulate within artistic research. In this way, FORUM+ aims to advance the many ways in which research in the arts is expressed and articulated today.
