Multidisciplinarity is perhaps the most important aspect of Ultima Thule's performances. The storytelling is done by actors but no less by puppets or images. The company always carefully deliberates on the right materials and shapes for a puppet, a figure, a stage or a scenography. In 2016, after the passing of Ultima Thule's former artistic director and driving force Wim De Wulf, artistic direction has been taken up by Sven Ronsijn.
