Het Banket was founded in 2009 by Brechtje Louwaard and Tristan Versteven. This theatre company from Mechelen creates linguistic and imaginative performances, presenting a new piece every year. During the past seasons, Brechtje Louwaard and Tristan Versteven have written five new texts for theatre: Eiland Lucretia, Het land is stil, Koning van de slaap, Dokter Szvo and Vergeten man. All of them remarkable stories, spoken in a language that sounds strange and quite funny at times, that speaks to the imagination and yet sounds oddly familiar. A language you won't hear anywhere else.
