Het nieuwstedelijk is the city theatre of Leuven, Hasselt and Genk. It's an artist-run theatre house that wants to shape and co-create the city and society of the future. The company recounts life-stories of the present day, placing texts, theatre, music, audio and discussion at the heart of their artistic project. Their work encompasses new creations about current and social topics as well as community based projects, it foregrounds an equivalence between spoken word and live music, all the while consistently building up a repertoire, supporting young talent and establishing a community with the audience.
