Valentijn Biesemans

Founder and moving spirit of the Grupetto ensemble.

He started his cello studies at the Music Academy of Meise and became a laureate for cello and chamber music with Prof. Carlo Schmitz and Viviane Spanoghe at the Royal Conservatory, Brussels. He also obtained the special prize "de Kerckhove" for cello. For many years he had a freelance activity as a cellist in different orchestras and ensembles, but he got more and more attracted to chamber music and composing.

As a composer he dedicates himself to chamber music and scenic music. Most of these works are composed for the versatile Grupetto ensemble, as part of their musical-historical projects.
