Cis Bierinckx lives and works in Vienna (since January 2021). He works as independent curator, dramaturg and critic in the domain of film and video, visual arts and performance arts. Between 1974 and 1976, he worked at deSingel in Antwerp and afterwards moved to New York. In 1992 he moved to Ljubljana, where we took an active part in the art scene, and later got involved with the Sommerszene Festival in Salzburg, for which he realised several programs. From 1997 until 1999 he worked as production leader for the Salzburger Festspiele, moving on to become the head curator of the film and video department of the Minneapolis Walker Art Center, near the end of 1999. In 2003 hij was briefly involved with the production team of Bomb Productions in Johannesburg and became the director of Arts Centre Beursschouwburg in Brussel from 2006 until 2013. 
With regards to film and video, he has been an integral member of International Filmfestival Ghent, the International Film Festival Rotter, the Oberhausen Shortfilmfestival and the VIENNALE in Vienna, as well as working as a program advisor for Artcinema OFFoff in Ghent. 
During his career, he realised many exhibitions through the Vrienden van het Museum voor Hedendaagse Kunst in Ghent and he was the curator for exhibition projects at Be-Part Waregem, NRW Forum Düsseldorf, Contour, SMAK, MMD and Kunsthal FRIART in Fribourg. As a critic, he regularly contributes articles for the monthly art magazine H ART, he is also a member of several committees for the Flemisch Department of Culture as well as being one of the assessors for VAF.
