Megan-Leigh Heilig

I was born in 1993 in Nelspruit South Africa, and grew up in Johannesburg. I graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand with a Bachelor in Fine Art (BFA) in 2015 and am currently completing my Masters in Fine Art (MFA) at the University of Cape Town.

I am an artist and commercial videographer.

In 2018 I will be living and working in Gent, Belgium while I am conducting research at the HISK institute (Hoger Instituut voor Schone Kunsten) for two years.  I am passionate about videography and would love the opportunity to create some crazy amazing content for your company! I shoot using a full-frame digital HD camera, with the option of 4K and edit on Final Cut Pro, with a preference for the mirrorless panasonic GH4. I have been working for a media company called Highbury Media, primarily shooting behind the scenes, fashion, lifestyle, food and events. I am a hard worker and very passionate about every shoot. From the conceptualizing to the recording and editing – I offer a full package.

In addition to doing events, behind the scenes, fashion, food and commercial videography I also make documentaries and experimental short films. In my art practice work primarily in video, film, and installation, using these mediums to question notions of self in relation to history and memory.

My work has been shown in different countries around the world, in film festivals and video art screenings, such as at the Vortex in London, in the Kampala Biennale, and at the KraftaDoc in Glasgow. My work has been nominated for best experimental short by the Top Indie Film Awards and the Bloodstained Film Festival. In addition, my work was recently nominated for the Bloom Awards by Warsteiner.

I am a keen reader, writer and researcher and I hope to contribute to your team!

I look forward to hearing from you ;)

I currently work as a videographer while also practicing as an artist.
